About the Role
Working from our Ipswich office, you will install, maintain, and service a wide range of refrigeration systems— from small commercial units to large industrial plant. You’ll work across East Anglia, with occasional travel further afield.

You will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing faults on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, often working under pressure and independently. Strong communication skills are essential, allowing you to liaise effectively with our office team and clearly update customers on work carried out.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• City & Guilds 2079 Category 1 F-Gas Certification
• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
• Proven experience working on commercial and/or industrial refrigeration systems (air conditioning experience beneficial)
• Full, valid UK driving licence
• Strong organisational, prioritisation, and communication skills

Desirable (Not Essential)

• City & Guilds (or equivalent) qualification in Ammonia (NH₃) handling
• Hydrocarbon refrigeration qualification

We are seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated and experienced Fire Alarm Engineer with a proven track record in Fire Alarm maintenance and installation.

‍ The Ideal Candidate will carry out the servicing, maintenance and installation of fire alarm systems in compliance with the latest standards, for both small and large projects.

‍ Responsibilities: Fire Alarm System Installation: · Install, test, and commission a wide range of fire alarm systems, including conventional, addressable, and hybrid systems. · Ensure compliance with relevant UK standards (e.g., BS 5839) and regulations during installation and maintenance procedures. · Conduct site surveys and provide technical advice on system design and specifications to clients. · Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues on-site, ensuring minimal disruption and timely completion.

‍ System Maintenance & Servicing: · Perform routine maintenance on existing fire alarm systems to ensure their functionality and compliance with safety standards. · Carry out fault-finding and repairs on fire alarm systems, both on-site and remotely, when required. · Replace and upgrade components as necessary to maintain the integrity of the fire alarm system. ‍

Emergency Out-of-Hours Support: · Participate in a rota for emergency out-of-hours service calls, responding to urgent fire alarm faults and system failures as required. · Provide fast and efficient solutions to restore fire alarm systems during emergency situations. · Liaise with clients regarding emergency repairs and provide advice on temporary safety measures until full resolution. ‍

Documentation & Reporting: · Complete service reports, installation certificates, and other documentation as per company and regulatory requirements. · Ensure that all work is logged accurately in the company’s service management system. · Provide regular feedback and updates to the line manager regarding the status of installations, maintenance tasks, and emergencies.

‍ Health &Safety: · Adhere to all health and safety protocols, ensuring that all installations and services are carried out safely. · Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe working practices. · Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times. ‍

Customer Service: · Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, providing excellent customer service. · Offer technical advice and recommendations to customers, enhancing their understanding of fire alarm systems and fire safety. · Address and resolve client concerns or complaints in a professional and timely manner. ‍

The Ideal Candidate will have: Previous experience in the installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems (minimum 2 years). · In-depth knowledge of UK fire alarm standards and regulations (e.g., BS 5839, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005). · Experience with a variety of fire alarm systems, including conventional, addressable, and wireless systems. · Relevant qualifications (e.g., FIA (Fire Industry Association) or equivalent certifications in fire alarm systems). · Full UK driving license. · Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills. · Excellent communication and customer service skills. · Ability to work independently and as part of a team. · Desirable Qualifications & Skills: · Electrical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds 17th/18th Edition or equivalent). · Knowledge of other fire safety systems, such as emergency lighting and access control. · Experience with commissioning software and tools for fire alarm systems. · To always work independently and as part of a team and act in a professional manner.

Door & Gate Engineers

JOB ROLE       (these will be reversed dependant on the Engineer)

Role will be responsible for the service, repair and installation of Auto doors. We are aware you may not have been trained or have the experience in all other types of equipment including barriers, shutters and gates, but training will be given when required. As discussed, you would be responsible for liaising with internal staff if parts and quotations are needed. Offering them photos, part numbers and information where necessary.

Baumac also undertake small engineering projects, you may be asked to carry out these types of works if and when required.

Salary

The annual salary will be between £18 - £23 per hour dependant on skills

Other Benefits

You will be provided with a company phone/ tablet for use on company business. There is also a discretionary bonus awarded annually.

Normal Working Hours

08-00 To 16.30 Mon to Fri (lunch 30 minutes unpaid)

You will be expected to cover out of hours for a minimum of 5 weeks during the year

SMT Operator

Our client is recruiting for a fantastic opportunity as a Surface Mount Operator within an industry leading electrical manufacturing company.

The Surface Mount Operator will be responsible for assisting with the running of the SMT Production Line. Other responsibilities will include setting up, programming and running Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machines, operating and profiling reflow machines, quality controls and the general housekeeping of the production process.

Ideal candidate must be able to work within a team, be computer literate and self-motivated

Responsibilities

•              General running and maintenance of the Surface Mount Machines

•              Correct and safe use of printing equipment, reflow oven and automated optical inspection machine (AOI)

•              Meet Company targets in Production and Quality

•              Continual improvement of Surface Mount Productivity

•              SMT experience required but further training will be given to assist with knowledge gaps

They are looking for an SMT Engineer to lead and run the SMT department, this will take an individual who can show experience in both management and being very hands on in order to meet required deadlines for production.

Experience:

• Experience in setting up from new design stencil machines for SMT line.
• Experience setting up and running pick and place machines for SMT production down to 0402 components.
• Experience in setting up and running Reflow ovens.
• Experience in setting up and running AOI testing machines.
• A good all-round electromechanical skillset for product development.
• Management of component purchase and storage to specifications.
• Management of conventional component and manual soldering procedures to IPC-A-610 standards.
• Liaising with other final assembly teams for product improvements.
• Form part of our ISO and quality team.
