The successful candidate will be responsible for helping develop remanufacturing solutions for complex automotive electronic /mechatronic control modules. This is a great opportunity to develop your technical skills in a constantly evolving industry.

You will be required to perform the following tasks:

• Test electronic circuits by simulating vehicle loads and signals
• Reverse engineer electronic circuits to find root causes of failures
• Enact rebuild solutions for electronic hardware and software failures
• Create technical documentation

Desirable skills & experience:

• Interests and experience in mathematics of circuit analysis.
• Experience in electronic fault finding to component level and PCB rework methods.
• Well organised with a methodical approach to problem solving.
• Team player with excellent attention to detail.
• Knowledge and experience of automotive operations, wiring diagrams, electronics, and communication protocols.
• Knowledge and experience using lean process methodologies.

Description 

Due to continued growth our client is recruiting for Fire & Security Engineers within the South East England and surrounding areas. As an Elite Technology Centre of GENT systems, we are looking for fully trained engineers who are multi-skilled in fire and security systems to work across our key customer accounts nationwide. 

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role will primarily carry out maintenance, reactive response and commissioning activity within our client portfolio. This will include systems such as fire alarms, fire extinguishers, security systems, door access, CCTV and various other equipment. 

 

Our engineers provide an excellent service to our clients which include 

• Servicing and maintaining the equipment onsite whilst adhering to the core values of our client. 

• Accurate reporting and escalation of works where required. 

• As part of our excellent service offering, you will be required as part of your normal duties to be ‘on call’ to provide out-of-hours cover to deal with emergencies. 

 

Requirements 

• Field based experience in commissioning, fault finding, repairs and maintenance across the full range of fire & security systems. 

• Due to the nature of our business and the requirements of our customers, you will be required to satisfactorily complete Security Screening to British Standard (BS7858). 

• A full clean driving licence.

Qualifications & Training 

• Appropriate technical qualifications e.g. FIA 1-5 or equivalent.

The Role

In this role, you'll be responsible for assembling and wiring control panels, harnesses, and electrical components to the highest standards. You’ll work from technical drawings and collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to bring our systems to life.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
• Assemble and wire control panels, junction boxes, and enclosures
• Loom and terminate cables neatly and accurately
• Perform continuity testing and basic fault finding
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
• Adhere to health and safety standards at all times
• Support quality control checks and final system testing
• Liaise with the engineering team to resolve build issues or technical queries

 

Required Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a wiring or electrical assembly role
• Proficiency in reading and understanding technical diagrams
• Strong soldering, crimping, and cable preparation skills
• Excellent attention to detail and neatness in wiring work
• Comfortable using hand tools and electrical test equipment
