Job Title: Hardware Development Engineer

Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our client's team as a Hardware Engineer. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of high-quality Automatic Test Equipment solutions, supporting our client's commitment to excellence in critical industries, including Military & Defence, Medical, Power, Automotive, Aviation & Rail, and Transport. With a focus on both hardware and software proficiency, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in electronic test applications, system design, and ensuring that hardware development aligns seamlessly with project scopes and budgets.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop cutting-edge electronic test applications for functional test equipment.
  • Execute hardware design tasks within established timelines and development plans.
  • Develop hardware product test specifications and procedures to meet customer requirements.
  • Innovate and develop new components for our FLEX range of test systems.
  • Solve intricate problems in test applications, spanning Mechanical, Electrical, and Pneumatic domains.
  • Assemble Mechanical and Electrical components, including soldering and crimping.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to determine cost-effective manufacturing methods.
  • Produce and oversee engineering drawings.
  • Support project proposals and specifications for external bids.
  • Conduct site visits as required.

Qualifications:

  • Formal engineering qualification in electronic engineering/electrical engineering, with a degree in engineering and/or electronics.
  • A Level (or equivalent) in at least 2 of the following: Maths, Physics, Design Technology, IT, Electronics.

Competencies:

  • Exceptional organisational skills, adept at managing multiple projects.
  • Experience using JTAG Boundary Scan and device programming certainly considered.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Methodical approach with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-starter and self-motivated individual.
  • Strong planning and time management skills.
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for personal actions and projects.
  • Knowledge of IPC610 and IPC620 would be advantageous.
  • Agreeable and eligible to obtain the required level of Security Clearance.
  • Possession of a full UK or EU Driver's License.

Compensation and Benefits:
In addition to the annual salary, employees are eligible for a yearly bonus, shared among the team and based on turnover and overall performance.

Training Provided:
Applicants will receive comprehensive training in the following areas:

  • Electrical/Electronic hardware design
  • Pneumatic System Design
  • Schematic Capture
  • Additional training as required, including LabVIEW and TestStand Programming
  • Software Installation

Additional Requirement:
Applicants will be required to undergo a comprehensive hardware/software competency test as part of the selection process.
